The Association of Pacific Rim Universities (APRU) is a network of more than 60 leading research universities from around the Pacific Rim. Founded in 1997, APRU brings together institutions across Asia, the Americas, and Australasia to address the most pressing challenges of the 21st century through collaboration in research, education, and policy dialogue.
In June 2025, Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech) was formally inducted as a member of APRU. Joining this global network reflects SUSTech’s growing international profile and commitment to advancing knowledge and innovation on the world stage.

What APRU membership offers SUSTech:
- For Students: Opportunities to participate in international leadership programs, cultural exchanges, short-term study options, and global competitions.
- For Faculty and Researchers: Access to international collaborative research projects, expert networks across disciplines, thematic working groups, and platforms to influence global higher education and policy discussions.
- For the University: A stronger presence in global dialogues, deeper engagement with world-class partners, and increased visibility for SUSTech’s contributions to science, education, and innovation.
- Through APRU, SUSTech students, faculty, and staff can connect with a truly global academic community, broaden perspectives, and bring Shenzhen’s voice to international conversations.
