On May 30, 2023, Max Lu, President of the University of Surrey, and his delegation, which included Patrick Degg, Vice-President for External Engagement, and Yu Xiong, Associate Vice-President for External Engagement, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).

Chun Lu, Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of SUSTech, Li Jin, Vice President and Acting Dean of Business School, and heads of related departments held discussions with the guests.

Vice President Chun Lu gave a brief summary of the current development of SUSTech. He expressed his gratitude for President Lu's invaluable insights into the development of SUSTech as a member of the International Advisory Council. He anticipates that the two institutions could strengthen and expand exchanges and collaborations across a broad range of areas and jointly cultivate innovative talents with an international perspective.

President Max Lu acknowledged the stunning achievements made by SUSTech in recent years. He presented an overview of the University of Surrey's current state and suggested that the two sides could strengthen exchanges and collaboration in areas of scientific innovation, sustainable development, faculty and student exchange, and so on, to promote the global advancement of science and technology.

Max Lu and his delegation were warmly guided on a campus tour.
