Vice President of Global Strategic Networks at Elsevier visits SUSTech

On April 26, 2023, Anders Karlsson, Vice President of Global Strategic Networks at Elsevier, and his delegation, which included Peter Lee, Vice President of Global Partnerships, visited the Southern University of Science and Technology (SUSTech).
Qikun XUE, President of SUSTech, Hongwei FANG, Vice President and Provost, and heads of related departments and centers held discussions with the guests.
President Qikun XUE gave a brief summary of the current development and future vision of SUSTech. He mentioned that Elsevier is a well-known scientific and educational platform with significant global influence.
He noted that its database and products provide strong support for researchers at SUSTech. Since its establishment, SUSTech has been aiming to cultivate innovative top talents and give undivided support for teaching and research to its faculty members.
President XUE hopes that Elsevier can offer more suggestions in the areas of information acquisition, data analysis, and sustainable development, and strengthen cooperation with SUSTech in expanding international academic exchanges and enhancing the influence of scholars' academic achievements.
Anders Karlsson acknowledged the development and achievements made by SUSTech in recent years. He outlined Elsevier's key attributes, academic value, and collaboration with SUSTech.
He expressed his hope that Elsevier would carry out extensive cooperation with SUSTech in terms of scientific and technological innovation, improving scholars' research performance, enhancing the University's reputation internationally, establishing international journals, and information analysis for interdisciplinary subjects to provide more targeted consulting services for the future development of SUSTech.
During their visit, Anders Karlsson and his delegation were given a guided tour of the campus, visiting Yidan Library and other locations.
Elsevier is a global leader in information and analytics, and is the largest publisher of scientific, technical, and medical content. It was founded in 1880 and is headquartered in Amsterdam.

Its database is a crucial source of publications for scholars but also an important source of data for the world's university evaluation institutions.
